BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Holy Trinity returns to the green to host its annual golf tournament for the benefit of its student-athletes. The 2021 Vicky Hurst Holy Trinity Golf Tournament takes place on Sunday April 25 Suntree Country Club.

Usually held in September, this long-standing tradition of the Holy Trinity was canceled in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The tournament, named after Vicky Hurst, a 2008 Holy Trinity Class graduate and member of the Ladies Professional Golf Association Tour, is the school’s iconic athletic fundraising event and plays a vital role in ensuring that the Holy Trinity’s outstanding athletic program continues to thrive year after year.

All proceeds go to Holy Trinity’s 41 sports teams to cover the costs of replacing worn out equipment and uniforms, paying for team transportation to away games and tournament fees, as well as costs. other immediate needs.

“It’s an honor to have my name associated with this annual tournament and to be able to support a program that has helped shape me not only as a professional golfer, but I believe as a person,” said Hurst.

Hurst, who started the sport at the age of six, was a member of the boys’ golf team at Holy Trinity and the number 1 golfer for three seasons. Throughout her high school golf years – 2005-2008 – Hurst was one of the state’s top young golfers, winning a host of trophies, including Girls’ Championship ‘Junior Player of the Year’. juniors of the Florida Women’s State Golf Association.

She was recruited extensively by college golf coaches in her senior year, but instead opted to turn pro and join the LPGA Tour in 2008 at just 17 years old. She qualified for full player status in 2009.

To honor her accomplishments, Holy Trinity created the golf tournament in her name which is played annually at Suntree Country Club, the golf course in Vicky’s hometown and where the school’s girls and boys golf teams s ‘train and compete.
