On Tuesday, Providence Holy Cross Medical Center is expected to host an event to thank first responders for their contribution to the success of the hospital’s stroke center.
In the past two years, the center has started performing thrombectomy, a minimally invasive blood clot recovery to restore blood flow to the brain. Since it opened, 174 procedures have been performed, which is the best of any other stroke hospital in Los Angeles.
Part of the centre’s success has come from paramedics in the city of Los Angeles and LA County who help with stroke relief.
“Based on their assessments, they can bypass other hospitals to bring patients to the stroke experts here at Providence Holy Cross,” a press release from Providence Holy Cross said.
In the spirit of Thanksgiving, the hospital plans to host a recognition of this partnership, with doctors, nurses and patients thanking paramedics and telling their stories.
The event is expected to take place at Providence Holy Cross Medical Center, outside the emergency center.
