Monday baseball roundup (May 16): Seymour sinks Holy Cross; wood rolls

Noah Prodan scored an RBI brace on a 3-2 count in the top of the seventh inning to power Seymour to a 3-2 win over Holy Cross in Naugatuck Valley League action at Waterbury on Monday.
John DeBarber went the distance for the Wildcats (8-10), allowing four hits while striking out 10 and going 2 for 4 at the plate.
Justin Bennett hit an RBI single in the first inning.
Andreas Effes hit a sacrificial fly that led to two runs for the Crusaders (11-5) late in the sixth. Logan Brown allowed four hits, no walks and five strikeouts in four innings.
Woodland 17, Crosby 3 (5): Ryan Donnelly, Anthony Butkevicius and Hunter Simpson combined on a six hit for the Hawks.
Matt Deegan had two hits and three RBIs for the Hawks (15-5), and Croy Mastropietro added two doubles.
