TEMPLE – Notre-Dame des Collines suffered its first loss of the season on Saturday, losing 5-2 to Temple Holy Trinity in Division III District 2 women’s soccer action.
Avery Morris and Gracie Clark scored the OLH goals and the team had just seven shots in total. Morris also got an assist and Catherine Westfall made 15 saves against the goalkeeper.
“We only had nine players and we had one injured during the game, which brings us to eight,” said OLH coach Jorge Salinas. “It was an absolutely difficult loss, but we just have to dust off and get back on the horse.”
OLH, 3-1 for the season and in district competition, is expected to crown Monday’s regular season game against Austin Veritas at the Kerrville Soccer Complex.
In the boys’ soccer action, Our Lady of the Hills remained above .500 after beating San Antonio Holy Cross, 2-1, for an important TAPPS Division III District 5 victory on Thursday in San Antonio.
Stephen Grocki and Davis Clifton scored the necessary goals for OLH to reach 3-2 for the year, with all games going on a loop.
Stefan Sirianni and Faviel Rodelo assisted in the scoring, and remarkable goaltender Diego Garcia made 10 saves at the net.
In addition to Grocki and Clifton, Chase Ballay and Hayden Juenke also got shooting looks in a game where the Hawks dotted Holy Cross with 20 attempts.
“Holy Cross were a great team to play against,” said OLH coach Jorge Salinas. “They were physical and played fast, but we adjusted well. We allowed their only goal in the first two minutes of the game. After that, we made some defensive adjustments.
OLH is set to host the New Braunfels Christian on Monday at the Kerrville Sports Complex in another district game.
