How St. X, PRP, Holy Cross, others won on Friday

The St. Xavier High School football team got big plays from their special teams and defense to claim a 27-0 victory at Bowling Green on Friday.

Mekhi Smith’s 57-yard punt return for a touchdown gave the Tigers (9-1) their first points of the game in the second quarter.

St. X won with a 20-point push in the fourth, netting a Jack Sivori touchdown pass to Michael Duddy, a 5-yard touchdown from Justin Walsh and a 22-yard interception return for a score of. Jackson Poma.

Bowling Green, last year’s Class 5A state champion, fell to 5-5.

St. X will host Butler on Friday in the first round of the Class 6A playoffs.

Grande Traversée 26, Collins 21

Cayden Allen’s 43-yard interception returns for a touchdown on the last play of the third quarter as the difference as host Warhawks (8-2) defeated the Titans (7-3).

Allen also led Great Crossing’s rushed offense, carrying 16 times for 132 yards and one touchdown.

Collins quarterback Kenyon Goodin carried 21 times for 87 yards and two touchdowns and completed 8 of 26 passes for 96 yards.

Collins will host West Jessamine in the first round of the Class 5A playoffs.

Pleasure Ridge Park 56, Valley 0

Kayden Anderson completed his 10 passes for 341 yards and six touchdowns to lead the Panthers (6-4) over the Vikings (0-10).

Jakob Dixon was the primary target, catching three passes for 146 yards and three touchdowns. Kendrick Jackson, DeShawn Barkley and Santana Crayton also had touchdowns.

PRP will play Manual in the first round of the Class 6A playoffs. Valley did not advance to the Class C 4A playoffs.

Sainte-Croix 41, Hancock County 14

Chris Perry completed 12 of 17 passes for 235 yards and four touchdowns and also ran for 55 yards and one scoring to lead host Cougars (8-2) over the Hornets (6-4).

Nate Siegrist had four catches for 117 yards and a touchdown. Alonzo Coleman, Jayse Hardesty and Marquis Mathis also had touchdowns.

Hancock County quarterback Drew Lyday carried 10 times for 61 yards and a touchdown.

Holy Cross will host Campbellsville in the first round of the Class A playoffs.

South Oldham 26, Central Hardin 6

Kyle Smythe carried 26 times for 138 yards and two touchdowns to lead host Dragons (7-3) over the Bruins (7-3).

Jack McCubbin added 68 yards and two touchdowns on 12 carries as South Oldham racked up 226 rushing yards on 49 attempts (4.6 yards per carry).

Elijah Lalli led the South Oldham defense with 12 tackles (nine solo) and four tackles for a loss.

South Oldham will host Jeffersontown in the first round of the Class 5A playoffs.

Fairdale 42, Waggener 6

Camiron Atkins carried 15 times for 106 yards and a touchdown to lead the Bulldogs (6-4) over the Wildcats (2-8).

Darnell Hertzog added 86 rushing yards on 12 carries, and Donnelly Tran completed 6 of 12 passes for 47 yards and two touchdowns.

Fairdale will host Doss in the first round of the Class 5A playoffs. Waggener did not advance to the Class 4A playoffs.
