WORCESTER, Mass. – The Providence College women’s hockey team earned a 4-1 win at the Hart Center over Holy Cross on Tuesday, February 1. Caroline Peterson (East Falmouth, Mass.) scored twice to push the Friars past the Crusaders.

GAMEPLAY AND NOTES
The first twenty minutes were scoreless for both teams, but Holy Cross were awarded a penalty with one second left in the first half. The Friars took advantage of the power play opportunity, 1-0, in the second period with a goal of Caroline Peterson at 1:50 a.m. Peterson was assisted by Hayley Lunny (Bedford, NY).
The remainder of the second period was scoreless for both teams and Providence led 1-0 into the second intermission.
The third period was action-packed and saw three 5-on-3 games in three minutes. Providence held the two-man advantage first after Holy Cross’ Bryn Saarela and Millie Sirum were called for interference at 7:45. The Brothers capitalized just 13 seconds, 2-1, with a goal of Barnett Hunter (Caledon, ON). Isabelle Hardy (Oakville, Ontario) and Brooke Becker (Orchard Park, NY) assisted on the game.
Holy Cross then held a 5v3 advantage for 49 seconds at 9:11, where they found the back of the net, 2-1, before the Brothers killed another 33 seconds from 5v3.
Peterson struck again for the Friars, 3-1, at 14:46 of the third period for his second of the night with help from Barnett and Lindsay Bochna (Toronto, Ontario).
First-year student Ashley Clark (North Weymouth, Mass.) scored his first career goal in the final 1:50 of play on the Holy Cross empty net. Becker got an assist on goal, his second of the night.
Sandra Abstreiter (Freising, Germany) finished the game with 37 saves, while Brenon made 29 for the Crusaders.

The brothers will face the Holy Cross Crusaders again this weekend on Saturday February 5 and Sunday February 6 in a home and away series. The puck drop is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. at Schneider Arena on Saturday before a puck drop at 2:00 p.m. at the Hart Center on Sunday.
