Holy Cross introduces Kit Hughes as sporting director

WORCESTER, Mass. — Holy Cross introduced its new athletic department chief at a press conference Thursday morning.

The new director of athletics for the Crusaders is Christopher “Kit” Hughes.

He comes to Holy Cross from Bowling Green State University where he was assistant athletic director.

Hughes is no stranger to the area as he is originally from Massachusetts and played college lacrosse at Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine and earned his master’s degree at Boston College.

Now in charge of the Crusaders, Hughes had the opportunity to talk about his leadership style and what he hopes to bring to his athletes.

“I’m not the athletic director of four sports. I’m the athletic director of 27. And it’s important to me that all of our student-athletes know that. That I’m a resource for them, that I’m there for them and every decision we’re going to make, whether they see it or they don’t and whether it’s behind the scenes, is in their best interest,” Hughes said at Thursday’s introductory press conference. . “And they’re going to come first. And that’s how I’m going to operate. That’s how my staff are going to operate.”

Hughes was one of four final candidates for the position. He succeeds Marcus Blossom who left for Creighton University.
