Holy Cross Academy Celebrates Catholic Schools Week – Oneida Dispatch

Oneida, NY – Holy Cross Academy (HCA) celebrated Catholic Schools Week (CSW) 2022 the first week of February. The theme for this year’s national celebration is “Catholic Schools: Faith. Excellency. A service.”

“HCA prides itself on providing a daily living atmosphere of the Catholic faith, encouraging academic excellence, and serving others,” the school wrote in a news release about the celebration.

The school reports that the week began with a talk from Deacon James Chappell on the blessing of a Catholic education. A presentation was also given on Saint John Bosco, one of the patron saints of HCA, by Fr. Edmond Castronovo.

Each school day was devoted to a specific theme. Throughout the week, students took part in activities ranging from sled racing and bowling, to collecting donations for Maison Joseph and recognizing teachers and priests.

HCA Principal Teri Maciag said, “Catholic Schools Week is our version of Spirit Week and it certainly captures the spirit of Holy Cross – an atmosphere of fun and faith as well as a solid education. Holy Cross Academy is grateful to have such wonderful staff and students. We are also very grateful to all our families and friends who support Catholic education and our school! »
