WEST HARTFORD, Connecticut – Senior Tomer drimmer scored the only goal for the Hartford men’s soccer team, as the Hawks tied Holy Cross, 1-1, in both teams’ season opener on Al-Marzook Field at Alumni Stadium Thursday evening.

HOW DID IT HAPPEN
After a scoreless first half that saw the field tilt heavily in favor of the Hawks with a 7-3 advantage, Drimmer put Hartford on the board in the 55th minute. The senior converted from a free kick just outside the box to a power play, which was awarded to the Hawks after the Holy Cross keeper was given a red card for handing the ball outside of the surface.

The Hawks kept the Crusaders off the board until Evan Jones scored on a breakaway goal to tie the game to 1-1 in the 82nd minute. Both teams had late net opportunities but neither converted to force overtime.

Twenty minutes of extra time was not enough to declare the winner, with both teams drawing 1-1. Hartford had the best of the game during that streak, holding a 2-0 shooting lead but couldn’t find the golden goal.
