Friday, April 29 baseball roundup: Holy Cross scores big win at Woodland

Logan Bessette hit a full game with three hits for Holy Cross in a 6-0 shutout against Woodland Friday in a Naugatuck Valley league game in Beacon Falls.
Bessette gave up just one walk in his effort on the mound for the Crusaders (9-4). Logan Brown had a hit and three RBIs while Carsten Donovan scored a single, walked twice and scored two runs.
Ryan Montini scored twice for the Hawks (10-3).
St. Paul 7, Wolcott 1: Devin Kulas homered, hit two singles, scored two goals and drove in two runs for the Falcons (13-0) at Wolcott.
Casey Cerruto and Ryan Daniels (two RBIs) also homered while Jamie Leggett added a single and two RBIs for St. Paul. Joey Tonnotti and Jon Remillard each had two hits and scored a run.
Tonnotti rode the first six innings on the mound for the win. He allowed one run on four hits, struck out 11, walked two and hit two batters.
Ryan Santopietro doubled, singled and scored the Eagles’ lone run (9-4) on a Devin Fuegen shot at first base.
Watertown 6, Torrington 3: Henry Marino pitched five innings for the win, allowing four hits, three runs with four strikeouts.
Ryan Glover pitched two scoreless innings for the stoppage and Tino Tanganelli added two hits two RBIs, three runs scored for Watertown (8-5).
Sam Weidenier also had two singles and an RBI. Ian Cronin contributed with a two-run single and Ian Glover had an RBI single.
Tyler Semonich had a single, a double and two RBIs for Torrington (7-5).
Seymour 11, Kennedy 1: The Wildcats scored six runs in the top of the first inning en route to victory at Waterville Park.
Dylan Evans scored a single and drove in three runs while Dylan Reilly (two runs) and Connor Edo added two hits apiece for Seymour (4-5). Reilly, Jake Chacho, John DeBarber and Colby Ruggerio each stole two bases.
Joe Fasano doubled and singled while Josh Rojas doubled and scored the Eagles’ only point (3-7).
Naugatuck 29, Crosby 0 (5): Jacob Brenes, Mike Deitelbaum, Mike Rusin, Jake Sanchez and Ryan Tyszka all doubled for the Greyhounds (7-4) at Waterbury.
Deitelbaum had three hits, three runs scored and an RBI while Jibree Bartelle added three hits, two runs scored and two RBIs for Naugatuck.
Kevin Cestari struck out three in two no-hitter innings for the win.
Mel Holquin and Dan Vargas had two hits apiece for the Bulldogs (2-7).
Derby 6, Wilby 3: Ryan Slack doubled, singled, scored a run and threw another, and was the winning pitcher for the Raiders (4-8).
Aaron Grammatico (running, two RBIs), Momo Ortiz (two runs) and Alex Enjem (running) each had two hits for Derby.
Adelso Jimenez drove in two runs while Junisbell Luna-Gonzalez had a hit and a run for the Wildcats (1-11).
Litchfield 16, Thomaston 6 (6): The Cowboys (3-7) scored 13 runs in the fifth and sixth innings to pass the Bears (2-8) by mercy rule at Litchfield.
Litchfield trailed, 5-3, coming in late in the fifth inning. The Cowboys sandwiched a seven-point fifth and six-point sixth around a single point from Bear in sixth. Nick Dest had four hits (double), two runs scored and one RBI while Joe Sepples added three hits, two runs and three RBIs. JT Gostkowski doubled, singled, scored twice and drove in four runs.
Milan Grant had three hits and three RBIs to lead Thomaston. Nate Brammer doubled, singled and scored three runs while Jimmy Bothroyd added two hits and a run scored.
Housatonic 20, Gilbert 7: Harry Schopp completed a home run short of the cycle and scored three runs for the Mountaineers (6-3).
Joey Brennan had three hits, a walk, TD and three RBIs while Austin Bachmann added a walk and a run for Housatonic.
Nick Closson had two hits and two RBIs while Aidan Bunel singled for the Yellowjackets (1-8).
Nonnewaug 11, Shepaug 1 (5): Ben Conti was 3-for-3 with three runs and an RBI for the host Chiefs.
Conti scattered five hits and a walk with five strikeouts in five innings. Ben Stewart had a single, double and RBI three, while Lucas Savarese hit a double with three RBIs for Nonnewaug (10-0).
Collin Harty had a single, a double and started the run for Shepaug (5-4).
Northwestern 10, Terryville 0 (6): Tanyon Weber pitched five shutout innings for the win, and he also contributed a home run and three RBIs for the Highlanders (8-1) in Terryville.
Nolan Risedorf had two hits and two runs scored while Freddie Camp added three runs scored for Northwestern.
Jake Rinkavage and Charlie Rogers each had a single for the Kangaroos (1-8).
Lewis Mills 12, Farmington 10: Brice Waldron had two singles, a double, a triple, three runs scored and three RBIs and Alec Varano added three hits, two runs scored and three RBIs for the Spartans.
Austin Oullette secured the victory in relief for Mills (7-3).
Kaynor Tech 14, Platt Tech 2: Joseph Stasik hit three homers, including a grand slam, and drove in nine runs for the Panthers (3-6) in their road win at the CTC.
Stasik also hit a single and drove in four runs. Nico Torres scored a triple, a single and a two-run for Kaynor Tech. Jonathan Romano pitched 6 2/3 innings and retired eight for the win. He also had three singles and a walk and scored four runs.
