Detroit Lakes Holy Rosary Raises Nearly $16,000 Through Catholic Schools Raffle – Detroit Lakes Tribune

Teachers, staff and the surrounding Detroit Lakes community have united with students and their families to raise an outstanding total of $15,915 for Holy Rosary Catholic School through its annual Catholic Schools Raffle.

From Jan. 14 to Feb. 27, Holy Rosary students sold $5 raffle tickets for the fundraising program, provided free by sponsor Catholic United Financial since 2009.

“Since we launched this raffle in 2009, more than $12.6 million has been raised for participating Catholic schools,” said Mike Ahles, president of Catholic United Financial. “We are incredibly proud that 100% of the total money raised went directly to the students, parents, faculty and administrators who helped make this program an unqualified success.”

Holy Rosary School is one of 86 schools in Minnesota and South Dakota that participated in the 2022 program. Ahead of that January start date, the school administration has set a fundraising goal ambitious. Catholic United Financial provided all promotional materials, raffle tickets and prizes for the program free of charge. As tickets were sold and money flowed in, families and staff tallied their total. They were delighted to know that they kept every dollar raised by their school.

On Thursday, March 10, the draw officially ended with a draw ceremony broadcast live on the Catholic United Financial website. The prizes, worth over $45,000, included a new 2022 Ford Escape SUV, a dream vacation, a Traeger Grill and grill set, smart TVs and more.

Catholic United also rewarded the hard work of Holy Rosary School’s top-selling student with a Baby Yoda LEGO set prize and a $500 chance. Holy Rosary School contributed nearly $16,000 to the grand total of $1,419,287 raised by the charity for Catholic education.

Funds raised by participating schools like Holy Rosary are used to improve school programs and facilities, including funding field trips, building playgrounds, supplementing school fees and providing new educational technology.
